Nanotechnology has gained relevance in the last years. This can be attributed to the development of the available technologies, but a strong motivation for developing Nanotechnologies is that most biological and chemical processes occur at nanoscale. Seeing and actuating at this scale has unlimited potential, in Biomedicine as well as Electronics or Materials Science and Technology. It is naturally multidisciplinary, as classic disciplines like Biology, Chemistry or Physics are hard to separate at this scale. A new class of applications is within reach if effort is placed into Research and Development in Nanotechnology.
Nanotechnology is considered strategic in the European Union. The Portuguese Presidency of the European Union acknowledges its awareness to importance of Nanotechnology by hosting this High Level Conference on Nanotechnologies. The Conference will be held in Braga, the city selected for the installation of the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, INL. This Conference offers a unique opportunity to get together Policy Makers, Scientists and Industry.
